Labor day spent beautifully ! It was a splendid sunny day and we had a equally shining day... nice stroll in Moody park. Wish I was a poet... I could have expressed more artistically... but this is not too bad, is it ?? Captured my moods on camera!
Yesterday had a fun time at the Liliac festival in downtown Calgary.... its first time for me, so I was learning, roaming around and just having fun.
There were people -people everywhere, something very unusual for Calgary, where like all North American cities, life is very fast, mechanical and professional.
But, the event was "Cool" and fortunately there was no rain :)) so that was a real blessing. Few pictures in the slide show below...
Dussera pooja at Getz... Dussera- the festival of conquering good over evil. We celebrated in traditional as well as fun way. Was insisted upon wearing traditional Indian Salwar-Kurta by my team members... and I agreed, but had a tough time dealing with the dress :((
However, the day went super ! Started out with the pooja, lighting of lamps, followed by team building events, games and of course snack & tea :))
With my team at Getz...
Ontario, Canada's one of largest province... very diverse in culture and land of many heritage and wonders of the world !
Had a beautiful time at 1000 islands, Mississauga Chinese center (with miniature version of Great wall of China), the CN tower, Niagara falls and the Big Apple factory. Feasted on freshly prepared apple pie and maple syrup. Felt yummy :)))
Ottawa, Canada's capital... a city of immense beauty and culture heritage ... And where Canada's big decision' are taken !!
Vacationing in Quebec... Another beautiful province in Canada. French is the first language here, although people do some times speak in English (with non- French speaking tourist). Roamed around Le Chateau, Quebec city (Quebec's capital) and the Montomerency falls. Feasted on French delicacies Quiche and soup !!
Colleagues from Novartis and of course myself included (I was the new member in the TRD team) were sent for training session in Basel, Switzerland... for good 3 weeks !
I hadn't been to Switzerland before and this was hence an excellent opportunity for me to blend work and fun together in professional proportions :))
As usual did lot of Googling on Switzerland.... a country of "Swiss Banks" and "Watches". They invented accurate watches and the whole country runs PUNCTUAL on everything as per the watch :)) ... Although, we joked about this, personally this very "punctuality" was a great habit I picked up ... so that was one of my souvenir from Swiss.
We worked on ALL weekdays and toured Switzerland on ALL weekends... Along with the fun, this also facilitated social engineering between teams.
Another fun element was that, the Novartis site is located very strategically... I was pleasantly amused to know this... One side of compound wall shares border with Italy, another side of the wall shares border with France and yet another one shares borders with Germany ! And main entrance gate is in Switzerland, picture perfect on the banks on Rhine river !! ... which meant that, we worked in Switzerland, while our car was parked in France/ Italy or Germany...Gr8 isn't it ?
Did sightseeing at Basel, Lucerne, Berne, Interlaken, Jungfraujoch, Zurich ... INCREDIBLE Switzerland and I would have to be a poet to do justice of describing the beauty of Swiss Alps ! And of course Marc Achermann invited all of us to visit his dairy farms on the countryside. Both Marc and his wife were wonderful hosts... fed us with excellent and tasty home cooked Swiss food :))
