Over the past few days I have been following news programs on television... Firstly as a rule, I never watch them... too much negativity, grief, scams and what not... There was a time in the recent past, when TV News comprised of world round- up of Events & Information... Now its only nonsense! But that's my opinion for whatever it's worth...
Inserted between News clips are advertisements- Let's make our earth a beautiful place, a heaven to live in... Go green, use eco friendly products, stop plastic bags, save electricity, save water etc. ... Excellent programs and are necessary too, if we wish to provide a good earth to our kins !
Another news items states- there is a political mess and there are discussions over initiating a war- Why ? because few people wish to fight war against few other people, who allegedly, used chemical weapons on other people... How can anyone wage a war and kill MORE people in order to punish someone for killing people in the first place- Totally beats me !
In the backdrop of all of these TV programs, a question popped my mind- Where are we heading as a human race? In the run for a better tomorrow are we spoiling the present? Where is the focus in our lives? And what is the definition of peace, tolerance & happiness in the present society?
The scientist in me prompted- don't have to re-invent the wheel...
So I turned to books for an answer and found an excellent one- New Earth Awakening by E. Tolle. The book states and I quote - Man made "God " in his own image. The eternal, the infinite and un-nameable was reduced to a mental idol that you had to believe in and worship as 'my God" or "our God"...We are coming to the end not only of mythologies, but also of ideologies and belief systems. If structures of the human mind remain unchanged, we will always end up re-creating fundamentally the same world, the same evils, the same dysfunctions.
First and Second world wars- humans suffered more at the hands of each other, than through natural disasters. When wars were over, the survivors looked in horror and incomprehension upon the devastation left behind- millions of humans killed many more maimed and yet many more disfigured. Millions of humans perished to gain few miles of mud? "
We have all of this in history and yet we don't seem to get the message... Unbelievable Insanity at the macro level !"
When we look closely around us individuals (the micro level)- we see chronic greed and ego at its superlative.
The word "I" embodies the greatest error and the deepest truth depending on how it is used along with relative words "my", "mine", "me" and "myself".
So, how do we have a new heaven on earth? The new heaven is not a location, but refers to the inner realm of consciousness.
A "new heaven" is the emergence of a transformed state of human consciousness and "a new earth" is its reflection in the physical realm.
You do not become good by trying to be good, but by finding the goodness that is already within you and allowing that goodness to emerge! And for this to happen there has to be a shift in consciousness. Be it a conscious way of working in offices, setting life's goals, dealing with neighbors, everything & everyone around you and more importantly dealing with oneself.
I'm reminded of Albert Einstein's remark- The mind that created the problem cannot come up with the solution. There HAS TO BE A SHIFT IN PARADIGM...

Labor day spent beautifully ! It was a splendid sunny day and we had a equally shining day... nice stroll in Moody park. Wish I was a poet... I could have expressed more artistically... but this is not too bad, is it ?? Captured my moods on camera!
It was a great Sunday morning ... little unusual, because it was extremely sunny ... and the weather was enticing... and then I found myself looking at the Rocky mountains from my window...You know, I find it real fun to sip a cup of freshly ground coffee and look outside- see the Canadian Rockies on one end and the tall buildings of Calgary downtown on the other !
This led me to re-think a questions that frequently pops into me- "How was the universe formed? Is there only one
world?" Our scriptures state different possibilities depending on which religious text one reads... so I thought to be neutral and turn to science for my answers.
And then Google came to my rescue... Viola ! I found this excellent documentary presented by BBC World on "The birth of Universe" and believe me, its truly magnificent.
My first reaction after watching this- " Physics is trying to read the mind of God".
But, after watching this documentary, another question popped into my mind- We always say "I'm in my own world...or... she seems to be in her own world". Does this really, I mean- literarily and figuratively stating- There are parallel worlds existing actually ? Your thoughts ??

Yesterday late night or should I say today early morning around 1.00 am read the news of The Bengali director Mr. Rituparno Ghosh's demise at age of 49 due to a heart attack.... the next news that caught my attention was that he had just
completed shooting of his new film this week.
Immediately my mind traced back reading another such news of Mr. Yash Chopra passed away due to dengue. He too had just completed his film and was doing the post production jobs. Strange isn't it both directors are good film makers... they just complete their respective film and pass away... It almost makes me think that God had sent them here on a mission
to make films and when its done they just go away? Don't you think so ?
I have heard of people dying at 21 years due to a heart attack and these were people with a normal heart, no diagnosed medical condition. Which then brings me to another question- why people suffer heart attacks at young age?
