Using Gemba Kaizen methodology in an organization helps in a variety of ways and can help a variety of industries.
One of the industries that commonly use Gemba Kaizen is healthcare, hospitality etc. which deals with numerous new problems on a frequent basis. Any industry can benefit from the implementation of Gemba Kaizen. This method deals directly with a problem when it occurs; such as helping unhappy customers reach desirable solutions.
The reason that Gemba Kaizen is beneficial to an organization is because it gives all workers a voice and allows them to come with up creative and value driven solutions. Many problems that occur in an organization can be solved internally and the solutions that arise through the use of Gemba Kaizen are excellent for improving customer satisfaction and processes within the company.
All employees are directly involved in coming up with methods of improvement and this allows for increased productivity, team work, employee morale and motivation. Employees that feel that they have a say in decisions and whose voices are heard tend to have a greater sense of value and loyalty to a company.
The elimination of things that are not valued helps to lower overall costs in an organization and also adds to productivity and improves customer satisfaction. This method can be performed individually once employees are aware and understand the methods and reasons for Gemba Kaizen. Some organizations that use Gemba Kaizen tend to frequently perform work groups that help employees to brainstorm and come up with well-rounded and creative solutions.
When waste is eliminated it allows for all employees to contribute in a more productive way that helps to raise the performance levels. It is necessary for continuous monitoring to be performed once Gemba Kaizen is implemented in order to track, analyze and sustain the solutions involved.
